The Song of the Week returns with “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free” from John Legend and The Roots’ joint album Wake Up! Their 2010 album consists of 11 soulful songs from the 60′s and 70′s that all have the underlying theme of awareness, engagement and consciousness. On Sunday, the Grammy’s named Wake Up! the Best R&B album. It was great to see positive, uplifting music honored. I applaud John Legend and The Roots for having the courage to produce music that uplifts and empowers people. I wish other singers and rappers would follow their lead.
