The Siege of the Freedom Riders

50 years ago yesterday, Bernard Lafayette Jr. traveled to Montgomery, Alabama as 1 of 22 Freedom Riders. Freedom Riders were a racially mixed group of mostly college students who rode throughout the south to test the Supreme Court’s recent ban on segregation in restaurants that served interstate travelers.  Click here to read Mr. Lafayette’s powerful OP-ED article.
